Meet the team
Lead Pastor
Pastor Matt & Jaime Roever
Matt and Jaime Roever serve as the Lead Pastors of Rockport First. Married for over 30 years, they minister side by side with a shared heart for people, a passion for the Gospel, and a deep love for the local church.
Matt holds a Doctor of Ministry (ABD) degree and has spent his life preaching the Word, discipling believers, and building ministries that help the hurting find hope. Before coming to Rockport, he spent years leading national and international ministry efforts, serving combat veterans, and equipping churches across America. His preaching blends solid theology, Spirit-filled passion, real-life experience, and the straightforward honesty of a Texas outdoorsman.
Jaime holds a Doctor of Ministry (ABD). She ministers with grace, strength, and compassion. She is known for her warm hospitality, steady faith, and gift of making people feel seen and loved. Together, Matt and Jaime lead with humility, courage, and a calling to shepherd a church that is firmly grounded in Scripture and wide open to the move of the Holy Spirit.
Their purpose at Rockport First is clear:
- To build a healthy, Spirit-filled church that loves God deeply and loves people well
- To raise up disciples who know who they are in Christ and walk in victory
- To reach the broken, the weary, and the spiritually hungry
- To steward a culture where the presence of God is welcomed and honored
- To serve Rockport with integrity, compassion, and bold faith
Their dream is to see families restored, faith renewed, and this coastal community transformed by the power of the Gospel.

Life & Family Pastor
Pastor Cody Bergquist
Originally from Michigan, Pastor Cody serves as the Life and Family Pastor at Rockport First, where he oversees the spiritual development of children from birth through 5th grade.
Holding a Master of Arts in Theology, Pastor Cody combines biblical depth with a loud, energetic leadership style that makes faith exciting and accessible. His ministry is driven by a specific goal: for families to learn and grow together in Christ.
He is passionate about equipping the next generation to love God, love the Bible, and change the world. When he isn’t teaching or leading ministry events, you can find Cody at the gym or out fishing. He and his wife of three years, Rachel, are currently expecting their first child.
Youth Pastors
Pastor Megan & Julian Garcia
“My life has been a journey of growth, faith, and learning to trust God one step at a time, and my heart for youth ministry comes straight out of that journey.” said Megan.
Being a youth pastor is deeply personal to Megan, because she knows what it feels like to need guidance, encouragement, and someone who believes in you. Megan’s family has played a huge part in shaping who she is — Julian and Megan have spent almost 13 years married, and walking through life with Julian has taught her strength, unity, and what it means to serve with a full heart. Being a spouse and a mom to her four kids has shown her patience, compassion, and the kind of unconditional love that overflows into her ministry.
“The way I pour into my children is the same way Julian and I pour into our students—showing up, praying over them, and walking with them through their highs and lows. Ministry isn’t just something I do—it’s who we are, and our family and faith are at the center of it all.” – said Megan.
Spanish Service Translator
Allison Rodriguez
Allison was born in Mexico, but Rockport has been the place she’s called home for as long as she can remember.
Married to her best friend, Isai, for 3 years and grounded by strong family values, she found a new sense of purpose in 2023 when she began attending Rockport First. What started as trying to find her purpose, quickly became clear, as she soon stepped into the role of Spanish service translator- bridging cultures, stories, and faith with every word she speaks.
Beyond church, Allison pours her heart into her work with individuals with special needs, where her patience and compassion shine brightest. When she’s not serving others, she’s at home with her closest companions, her beloved dog and cat who add joy and balance to her busy, purpose-filled life.
